Our Team
Expert, friendly Orthodontic Team
Lakeside Orthodontics opened in 2005. A lot of our staff have been with us since we started (some even worked with me before that).
I am very proud of the whole team. They are friendly, approachable and happy to help. Sheila, (who worked doing Oral Surgery with me in hospital in 1991) is the kingpin, coordinating everyone and managing the clinics. Jo helps her from the office.
There are only about 400 Orthodontic Therapists in the UK and I have 3 amazing ones who help me with assessments, brace fitting and adjustments and Paula also helps with composite bonding and hygiene as she is (uniquely) doubly qualified as a dental therapist as well.
We regularly attend lectures and courses to keep ourselves up to date, and constantly refine our service and update our knowledge.
Equally important are our nurses who help us to maintain the cleanliness of the clinics and to keep them running smoothly as well as helping with 3D scans, 3D printed models and appliances.
We aim to provide an unparalleled level of patient care. Don’t believe us, see our reviews.

The best thing about my job is
Getting to meet so many interesting people. It is so much fun getting know my patients and watching their self-confidence grow as we help them achieve a great healthy smile.
If I was not an Orthodontist
I would love to be a primary school teacher and spend long summers in the Caribbean – kitesurfing, diving and watching the sunset from my beach hammock. Winters would be spent in the Alps skiing and snowboarding. Dream on…!
When I am not helping straighten teeth in the clinic
I am enjoying time with my 3 kids and planning exciting trips with them. We love skiing and surfing. I love playing the guitar, drums and going out kitesurfing (not all at once).
Lately I have been completely restoring a 37 foot boat in the Lake District and have enjoyed getting back into woodworking, which I did a lot of as a child.

The best thing about my job is
I love my job because I enjoy meeting people and being able to be involved in their treatment. Orthodontic treatment can make such a difference to a person’s confidence. I am very fortunate in working amongst a great team of professional people who are supportive and fun to be with. I can honestly say I enjoy going to work.
If I did not work in Orthodontics
If I was not a Nurse I would be – something else in the Health sector! When I was at school I wanted to be either a general nurse or an occupational therapist (OT). I didn’t get the grades I needed to be an OT and rather than resit – went into dental nursing. My other part time job is teaching trainee dental nurses which I also enjoy.
When I am not helping straighten teeth in the clinic
I am spending time with friends & relatives, dog walking and gardening.
